Sustainable Vocational Training

Aasha Vocational and Training Center

After years of planning and with a viable concept in place, we successfully inaugurated the Aasha Vocational School in Birauta/Pokhara in May 2017. The school is situated in a rural suburb of Pokhara on leased land for a period of 20 years, allowing for future expansion. We maintain close collaboration with our coordinator and school manager, Narayan Baral, and maintain regular communication with him. The school employs three staff members, including a full-time caretaker, a school secretary, and a part-time bookkeeper. Our coordinator works on a non-profit basis.

To ensure high-quality training, we hire professionally qualified trainers for each course, which typically lasts three to four months.

The courses offered at our school:

  • Electricians
  • Plumbers
  • Bakers (including Barista (coffee) training)
  • Cooks
  • Computer usage and repair
  • Sewers
  • Bag making
  • Beauticians
  • Montessori Teaching
  • various women-empowering trainings organized by women organizations.

The Aasha Vocational School is accredited and registered with the Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) in Kathmandu. All courses are conducted according to the defined training criteria set by the CTEVT, and upon successful completion of the course, graduates receive a national diploma after a final examination organized by the CTEVT. All instructors at our school are qualified according to the guidelines provided by the CTEVT and are appointed by the council itself.
